Prologue
You can't rush something great, but ...
Just got this update from Leo at Audacity ...
He says this about Audacity 4:
It’s chugging along. Release is probably this year, a beta might come late spring/early summer.
That's later than I thought it would be, but it's a massive update, so it's not a surprise.
You can't rush something great, so I get it. My new book has been the same way.
Can you relate?
A lot of podcasters can. I hear from people every week who feel "stuck" trying to get the perfect episode out.
Wanting to do something good is a great instinct because It means you care.
But there’s a line where caring turns into waiting. And waiting turns into never actually getting anything out to the world.
Perfection is a moving target. You can spend weeks tweaking an intro, rewriting episode notes, or second‑guessing the edit … and still not feel “ready.”
The problem is, you don’t actually get better by polishing the same thing forever.
You get better by publishing.
Every episode is an at‑bat. Some are solid singles. Some are strikeouts. A few become home runs you didn’t see coming.
But none of that happens if the episode never leaves your hard drive.
Audacity 4 will be worth the wait, because Audacity has been around for over 20 years.
Your next episode probably doesn’t need to wait.
Finish it. Publish it. Learn from it. Then do the next one a little better.

Gmail is Ditching POP Email
If you don't know what I'm talking about, skip this. But if you're using your own domain via Gmail's interface, you need to read this now and change your email client before Gmail drops you.
I've used Gmail's POP options for the last 20 years, so I get how disappointing this is for some people.
I moved everything to Canary Mail after looking at several other options, including Hey, Fastmail, and Proton Mail.
What are you using for your email? Let me know via Bluesky.

Automatically Cut Music Segments from Your Podcast
Did you put unlicensed music in your podcast and it's hurting your distribution?
You're not alone. I know dozens of podcasters who've been kicked off Spotify for music licensing issues.
Or maybe you're like me, with a legally cleared broadcast show that you want to distribute via Spotify ... and the music you used is keeping you from doing this.
Good news! Auphonic automates the process. No need to go back and manually edit everything!

But I Saved 10 Bucks!!
A gentle reminder that there are some great bargains on eBay, but if a deal seems too good to be true, it may very well be.
I'm no Sunday School teacher ... If you want to buy a counterfeit or knockoff mic, I'm not going to judge you.
And you can save a lot of money by buying used.
But ... you want a mic what you know will work. You don't want something that's going to fail on you and keep you from capturing something great.
Choose your equipment wisely.
