Prologue
It's Issue Number 200! Who Cares?!
This is a weird week for "Issue 200" since I just celebrated my birthday over the weekend.
True story ... I was going to have a birthday party when I turned 10, but as my mother and I were addressing invitations to send to my friends, I told her, "I don't really want a birthday party."
And that was that ... until 12 years ago when I met my wife.
She got me thinking about how important "little milestones" in life are. Like the 200th issue of Big Podcast Insider.
But an even bigger "milestone" in podcasting is the very first episode you publish. If you see somebody who's done that, I hope you'll have a little celebration, even if they don't.
COMING THIS WEEK ... The Solo Podcast Challenge
If you're not already on the "general" Big Podcast mailing list, drop by BigPodcast.com/toolkit and make it happen. I'll be sending out info in the next couple of days.

Podcaster Opportunities
Hype: Can it Grow Your YouTube Audience?
YouTube's new Hype feature is designed to help smaller creators reach new audiences and grow their channels. By hyping videos, viewers can help their favorite creators climb the Hype leaderboard and gain visibility.
🔊 Hype: A New Way to Support Emerging YouTube Creators
- Hype is a new feature on YouTube that allows viewers to "hype" videos from creators with under 500,000 subscribers.
- Hyped videos climb a leaderboard, potentially exposing the creator to new audiences.
- Fans can hype up to 3 videos per week, with a "small creator bonus" to help smaller channels compete.
- Hyping does not influence YouTube's recommendation or search algorithms.
- Hyping provides an interactive way for fans to support their favorite creators and help them grow their channels.

Tim's "New Rules" for Podcasting
Tim Ferriss' podcast has been downloaded over a billion times.
Recently, he added some "New Rules" that I think you'll find interesting and maybe even something to consider for your podcast.
- No more book-launching episodes, with exceptions only for close friends and at least three months before the book's publication date.
- Implementing a 90/10 barbell strategy, focusing on guests known by either more than 90% or less than 10% of the audience.
- Prioritizing interviews with living legends and masters of their craft who rarely do podcasts.
- Increasing experimentation with different podcast formats and styles to keep the show fresh and fun.
He's done a lot of "experiments" like this, but quickly dropped them. Will he keep up this one? Get the audio edition of this newsletter for more thoughts ...
Podcast Marketing
Are you making these podcasting mistakes?
There are a lot of parallels in life, among them those of websites and podcasts. Which is why this article about websites got me thinking about podcasts (and how to make them better).
Can you honestly say "yes" to the following questions?
- Is it clear what your podcast is about?
- Is it easy to listen and subscribe to your podcast?
- Is your audio professional?
- Is it easy for people to spend money with you?
- Do you have a clear call to action?
If not, make it happen!
