Prologue
Thanksgiving Revisited
It's weird to me to think about the world I used to live in, where I'd record audio, put it on pieces of plastic, and work like crazy to get people to pay attention to them.
One envelope at a time.
One visit at a time.
One phone call at a time.
Sometimes something would take off and then you'd have another problem ... how to get lots of pieces of plastic to people.
We don't have to deal with these issues today.
It's easy to reminisce about the "good old days," but we're living in them ... right now.
I'm thankful for you and appreciate you being on this journey with me.

Podcasters Are Rejecting the Author-Interview Format
I talked about a "format change" by Tim Ferriss to move away from interviewing authors and bring in more lesser-known guests in Issue 200, so this commentary on the topic got my attention.
His comment that “the podcasting circuit has largely become the same authors appearing on 15–30 podcasts in any given week or two for book launches" is accurate.
But Tim Ferriss has an exception for authors—he wants to be first. He didn't say it this way, but that's what his rule of being on his podcast "three months before the release date" means.
This is smart. Because Tim's podcast, like your podcast, isn't the only podcast that somebody listens to.
You don't want your podcast to get lost by releasing "the same episode" as 30 other podcasts during the same week, in the middle of press junket or launch. If you get an opportunity to interview a great guest, take it, but do what you can to make the most of it.

28 Podcasting Predictions for 2025
I don't have any predictions for the upcoming year, but these people do.
Note the format of this post ... an old-school "roundup."
Something similar would work to drive traffic to your podcast. That's not a prediction—that's a fact. So steal this idea and use it for yourself.

How to Protect Your Podcast
Password managers help securely store and manage your passwords. They generate complex passwords and save them in an encrypted format, accessible with a master password.
1Password is the one I recommend. I've been using it for years without issue.

Conan O'Brien Didn’t Want a Video Podcast
I'm an audio-first guy, but also somebody who gets that there's a time and place for video.
Conan O'Brien didn't want a video podcast either, but ...
Check out these comments about Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend.
"We want the full videos exactly like they are now! No over production, no makeup, etc. We love seeing you guys creating the podcast, the video and audio is great - we just want to see it all!"
"Don't change ANYTHING. No need for makeup, no need to style hairs, we love what we see because it's authentic and well executed for something kind of improvised."
"I just wanna say, Adam if you're reading this, I'm partially deaf and I ONLY watch podcasts in videos, never audio. I like to be able to see the people talking and have subtitles when I'm listening to a podcast."
"We might be biased as YouTube audience, but the full video podcast is THE biggest win for you all (people need a raise!). But also NO MAKEUP. If anything, everyone needs to dress worse."
"You look good Conan! No makeup or surgery needed! We would not watch if any of you were of putting! So all of you could stay just stay perfect as you are! "
Things to consider if you're doing (or thinking about doing) video. I won't judge! :)
