Prologue
Meet the New Year ... Same as the Old Year?
How will the coming year be different for your podcast than this year?
That's up to you.
Here are some "small actions" you can put in place right now that will yield big results ...
Engage More with Your Audience
Building a strong connection with your listeners can dramatically improve your podcast's reach and retention. Start by actively engaging with listeners via social media, email newsletters, or community forums. Encourage feedback, host Q&A sessions, and respond to comments to make people feel valued and heard.
Collaborate with Other Podcasters
Networking with other podcasters can open doors to new audiences and ideas. Reach out for guest appearances, cross-promotions, or collaborative episodes. These partnerships can introduce your podcast to listeners who might not have discovered it otherwise, and they also provide fresh content and perspectives for your existing audience. Cross-promotion is a powerful tool for growth when done strategically.
Want to connect with podcasters who are working just as hard as you are? Check out Big Podcast AMP.
Set Clear Goals and Track Progress
Define specific, measurable goals for your podcast this coming year, such as increasing downloads, securing sponsorships, or expanding your audience to new demographics. Use analytics tools to track progress and adjust your strategies as needed. Regularly reviewing these metrics will help you stay focused and make informed decisions to drive growth.

Seth Godin's Book Promotion Strategy
You'll find what Seth Godin did to promote his last book interesting ...
- Put together packages. Sell the books in bulk.
- Podcast interviews ... 80 to be specific.
In the previous issue of Big Podcast Insider, I mentioned that more and more podcasters are rejecting the author-interview format and this is true ... but "rules" are different for celebrities.

What Has Your Podcast Got to Lose?
Editing makes a good podcast a great podcast.
The last few words of this article sums it up "editing" and its importance nicely ...
This is a 1000+ word article, which is what I had time to write this week. Given more, I am sure I could have cut it to 400.
The hardest speech I ever gave was a PechaKucha talk that was strictly time-limited to five minutes, with slides that advanced automatically every 20 seconds. Compared to that, a one-hour keynote is a breeze.
I am ready now 😉 But the discipline of making your show as short as humanly possible while retaining what is truly important is guaranteed to shorten the time it takes to connect with your audience.
With so many choices, every second counts.
Edit your podcast.
Podcast Humor
A Real Party Animal
Do you find yourself "editing" what others say in your head when having a conversation?
Or do you think about something you've said and wish you would go back and edit it?
We pick up a lot of "skills" from podcasting and some of them don't work well in daily life. For example, meeting somebody, instantly going to "host mode," and turning that meeting into an interview.
