"Under New Management"
OK, not really "new" management, but I've ended my relationship with a sponsor, so I've got a little more freedom with the format of Build a Big Podcast.

I talked about my own experience with burnout on a recent episode of Build a Big Podcast and will talk about it more in future episodes.
TLDR; I'm changing the format of Build a Big Podcast to something that's more sustainable.
I love what I do, but I've been doing "content creation" since 1995, long before it was known as that. I started podcasting in 2005, I host a weekly broadcast radio show, and I produce a daily show for SiriusXM.
It's a lot of work.
Podcasts that feature consistent, frequent releases (often described as "always on") face challenges when hosts need breaks. Two-host shows with a unique dynamic also struggle during absences.
Maybe "almost always on" is something to consider?

AI Noise Suppression and Transcription in Audacity 3.7.4
OpenVino is a powerful collection of AI tools, built specifically for Audacity. Like Audacity, these tools are free.
If you use Audacity you might find this "transcription" feature helpful. Also recently released is an AI-powered noise suppression option.
A video on how to use these tools. I think the transciption tool is nice for finding specific segments of audio as well as an easy to see false starts and flubs that need to be removed.
Your Brain on ChatGPT
Are AI tools like ChatGPT actually hurting your creativity?
This study showed clear differences:
- Brain-only users had the strongest and most spread-out brain networks
- Search Engine users showed moderate brain activity
- LLM users had the weakest connectivity. Cognitive effort dropped as tool use increased.
LLM users felt least connected to their work and had trouble quoting it accurately. Over four months, LLM users consistently performed worse in brain activity, language use, and behavior.
This isn't to say you shouldn't use LLM tools, such as ChatGPT, but it's something to be aware of. It can also be an advantage for those who aren't so dependent on LLM tools, so keep that in mind.

Sometimes the use of slang or specialized terminology lets people know you're an insider, but it can also identify you as an outsider if you're not cool.
Be careful.

Will AI take away audio-editing jobs?
Some interesting thoughts by Shikant Joshi about AI and podcast editing ...
- "This AI takes over all your podcast editing!"
- "This AI will edit your podcasts in 30 seconds!"
- "This AI cleans noise in under a minute!"
Except the output isn't 100% perfect, so you end up going back to try and patch the bits that the AI missed. And, what would have taken you 30 minutes, now takes 60 minutes, maybe 90.
Instead of reducing work, the AI now ends up ADDING to it.
