New Listeners, 2 for the Price of 1
There is only so far you can go with earned or organic media. But when you figure out a way to make paid ads work, you can go, and go, and go ... almost forever. Certainly longer than you'll be able to with free media, especially in our "here today, gone tomorrow" landscape of viral videos and celebrities.
What was the name of that dude on The Bachelor?
It doesn't matter. There's another guy to take his place this week.
This is how "viral marketing" works. It's helpful for a short period of time, but it's nothing to build a career on.
You can, however, build a career through paid advertising. And if you think it's "too expensive" for you to do, consider improving on how you package episodes, This means, better titles, better focus, etc. That can literally cut any advertising costs you do i half (if not more).
In this issue of Big Podcast Insider, I've got ways for you to build better episodes, so you can get more people to download and listen to them, regardless of whether you are buying ads or reaching new people organically.
How to Write Compelling Episode Titles
First of all, something to consider ... most subscribers are listening to your podcast based on their relationship with you, not specific episode topics or titles.
But ... Before people listen to your podcast, they see an episode title. And this is important if you want to "expand the pie" and get more new listeners for your show.
This includes 17 fill-in-the-blank formulas, meant for headlines, that also work great for episode titles.
If you want more people to pay attention to your podcast, do this.
Audio is More Important than Video
If you do video in addition to audio, especially if you have an interview-format podcast, you need to look at this.
DO NOT neglect the audio portion of your podcast episodes, even if you have a great camera.

Vanity Downloads – Yes, your "download numbers" are wrong!
If you walk into a Wal-Mart and get a size Small dress, know that that same size would be labeled Large at other stores.
Same thing for those XL Lifestyles condoms. And same thing for the "download numbers" for your podcast.
